Workshop venue

The scientific programme will be held at the De Geer Room, House Y, Department of Geology and Geochemistry, Stockholm University, Svante Arrhenius väg 8C, 106 91 Stockholm, Sweden.

Access to workshop venue

Stockholm is best reached by air via Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN). Some cheap airlines (e.g Ryanair) fly to Stockholm Skavsta (NYO) or Västerås (VST), which are more distant from the town centre. The airport Bromma (BRO) is served by some domestic and a few international flights. From Arlanda you can take the "Arlanda Express" train and the airport bus from all airports to Stockholm Central Station. By train, it is best to go to Stockholm Central Station (Stockholm C). Information about train timetables can be found at the Swedish State railway website. International timetables are available at the German Railway server in several languages.

To access the venue, take the Stockholm underground ("tunnelbana"), red line from the main railway station in the direction "Mörby centrum" to the station "Universitetet". Alternatively, you can take bus 40 or 540 to stop "Universitetet norra". Information about timetables can be obtained at the Stockholms Länstrafiken website.

From the exit of the underground station "Universitetet" follow the signs "Geovetenskapens hus". It is a group of green modern buildings. Enter the house "Y" or "U" and follow the signs to "De Geer salen".

A campus map can be downloaded here. A map of the building "Geovetenskapens hus" can be found here.

Public Event

A public event will be held at the Stockholm Natural History Museum in the early evening after the scientific programme. The public event will consist of a lecture entitled "The search for alien life" by Dr Lewis Dartnell, University College London. A short description of this lecture can be downloaded here. The lecture will be held in the small lecture hall "Lilla hörsalen" on the groundfloor of the museum. After the lecture, the film "Are we alone in the Universe?" ("Är vi ensamma i universum?") will be shown at the Cosmonova cinema in the museum (Swedish and English). A plan of the museum ground floor can be seen here.

The Natural History Museum is located next to the University. To access the Natural History Museum, follow the signs for "Naturhistoriska riksmuseet" outside the underground station "Universitetet".
